Beanies Bonanza

beanies.JPG

Our local ‘Vinnies Van’ has put the call out for beanies for this winter. Staff who volunteer on the van have noticed that they are in need of beanies for those sleeping rough in the Illawarra.

We are asking students to bring beanies into school during Week 9 (14th - 18th of June). There will be collection baskets in each classroom. If you would like to donate any other winter woolies (e.g.: gloves, bed socks, scarfs) they are more than welcome too!

The Vinnies Van visits Albion Park, Nowra, Ballambi, Warrawong and Wollongong and provides those who are homeless or sleeping rough with food, blankets and warm garments. This is where our donations will be going.

At St Michael’s, inspired by Christ, we care for the dignity of every human being. We don't care for the poor and marginalised out of obligation, but we prefer it: we choose to.

The beanies will be collected by our local Vinnies team at our morning assembly on Monday 21st June.

World Environment Day

On Friday June 4th St Michael’s celebrated World Environment Day. World Environment Day is the UN’s most important day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. Since it began in 1974, it has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries.

REIMAGINE. RECREATE. RESTORE.

This is our moment.

We cannot turn back time. But we can grow trees, green our cities, rewild our gardens, change our diets and clean up rivers and coasts. We are the generation that can make peace with nature.

Let’s get active, not anxious. Let’s be bold, not timid.
