STEM PROJECT - Years 3,4 and 5
Students in Year 4 and 5 have been engaging in a STEM Connect project partnering with students from Holy Spirit College to build their skills in science, technology, engineering and maths. They have planned and designed new playground equipment and are about to 3d print their designs. We are hoping to get some inspiration from these designs for our outdoor learning space and playground equipment. Students in Years 3,4 and 5 have also started fun and engaging STEM workshops with Mr Lamas from the Catholic Education Office. Mr Lamas is working with the students and teachers in these classes on the design and make process. The students are learning many different skills and have started working with the Tinkercad app to help them design.
WASTE FREE WEDNESDAY update
Waste Free Wednesday is back again and we are working hard to promote waste free lunches every Wednesday. This means bringing no plastic waste to school. This term the Living Fully in Community team will be launching a MAGIC round where on two randomly selected Wednesdays all students who bring waste free lunches to school will receive a raffle ticket to go into the draw to win a bento box. Two bento boxes will be raffled off at the Monday morning assembly. No one will know when it will be a magic round, so it is important that students bring waste free lunches to school every Wednesday to give them the best chance to win the bento boxes.

Bullying No Way Day- 18 August
We will be celebrating creating a KINDNESS Culture at St Michael’s by celebrating Bullying No Way Day on Friday 18 August. The students can wear BLUE mufti clothes to school on this day as blue is the colour of kindness. They will engage in bullying awareness activities throughout the day and have an opportunity to create a kindness chain. This is part of our focus on Respectful Relationships this semester. To add to the excitement of this day, there will also be the opportunity to purchase a Subway lunch pack. The lunch pack will include a 6 inch sub and a cookie. More details of how to order will be out via compass next week. Please support Bullying No Way Day by wearing BLUE on Friday 18 August.
