Vision: Inspired by Christ, we aspire to excellence in learning, living life fully in community
The mission at St Michael’s is to:
-
be a vibrant catholic community where all feel safe, valued, loved and respected
-
display understanding, compassion and care for others and all creation
-
foster dynamic and diverse learning opportunities
Dear Parents and Carers,
In response to parent feedback, we are reviewing the way we structure the school newsletter to ensure that we provide clear and concise information to all families. We understand that with busy lives, it is important to have easy access to information about what is coming up throughout the term. You will notice some slight amendments to each section of the school newsletter. At the very beginning of each section will be an outline of the events (Catholic life and culture, general school events, and sports events) and parent preparation or support required.
In Term 4, we will be trialling a whole term overview for parents and staff capturing all school events. This will be provided to parents digitally and as a hard copy. The intention of this will be to provide a guide of the upcoming school events and to provide early information about what parent support can be of assistance.
Throughout our review we will consult with the parent community to explore other methods to provide clear and concise information.

Mary Mackillop Celebrations

There were many heartwarming moments from our recent class activities, prayer service and Mass dedicated to Saint Mary MacKillop. These special events reflect our school's commitment to honour and uphold the values of love, compassion, and education that she embodied.
I would like to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who participated in making the reflection afternoon and Mass a meaningful experience. Let us carry forward the lessons learned from Saint Mary MacKillop's life as we strive to make a positive difference in the lives of others, just as she did.
Assumption of Blessed Mary Mother of God
We would like to express our gratitude to all the Year One and Year Two students, Miss Beringer, Miss McDonald and Miss Di Dimozio who contributed to the thoughtful planning of this prayerful liturgy. Your dedication and efforts ensured that this celebration was a reminder of Mary’s unwavering devotion, humility and love.
As we move forward, let us carry the spirit of Mother Mary's Assumption with us. May her example guide us in our daily lives, inspiring us to embrace God's will with grace and to shine our light of love and compassion onto the world.

What’s happened at St Michael’s over the past fortnight?
STEM CONNECT PROJECT - Year 4 and 5
Students in Year 4 and 5 have been engaging in a STEM Connect project partnering with students from Holy Spirit College to build their skills in science, technology, engineering and maths. They have planned and designed new playground equipment and have 3D printed some of the designs. The designs are set up in the office foyer. We are trying to raise funds to contribute to buying contemporary playground equipment and the STEM students have designed some examples of what they’d like in their playground. If you would like to make a donation to our playground fund, please send this into the office. All donations are greatly appreciated.

We created a KINDNESS culture and painted our school BLUE on Friday 18 August when we celebrated Bullying NO WAY! Day. We all engaged in fun activities to learn about the different types of bullying and how to be an upstander. Check out the amazing kindness chains created by each class, we even connected the chains to make a St Michael’s school kindness chain.
Respectful Relationships
Our focus on Respectful relationships was launched with Bullying No way day. A student advisory Group has been formed by students elected by their teachers to be the vice for their classes to develop respect focuses. These respect focuses have been derived from data gathered from our students who completed surveys in Term 2 about how safe and respected they felt at our school. The student advisory group (SAG) have met and have developed the first respect focus which will be explicitly taught over the next fortnight with role plays.
The respect focus for Week 5 and 6 is: Calling Out Disrespect.

Gala Days cut off dates:
We are very fortunate that we are able to provide our students at St Michael's with opportunities to be involved in a range of sporting events throughout the year. These include our annual Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country events and also a range of sports through organising external Gala Days.
We understand that each family and student's schedules can be quite busy, but we firmly believe that participation in sports not only promotes physical fitness, but also teaches valuable life skills. It fosters teamwork, time management and the ability to handle challenges gracefully. Encouraging your child to take part in these events could contribute significantly to their overall development.
If your child is interested in participating in any of our sporting events and Gala Days, please ensure that their nominations are submitted by the specified cutoff dates. Unfortunately late nominations cannot be considered due to the logistical constraints and deadlines that are set by the Catholic Education Office and their conveners to ensure they can coordinate the day to enable participation of our schools across the diocese.
If you have any questions or require assistance at any time with the nomination process, please don’t hesitate to contact Mr Bryce or Ms Shea at the school.
Thank you for your continued support in fostering a culture of sportsmanship and healthy competition among our students. We look forward to seeing our young athletes excel in future sporting events.
